Coronavirus Ireland: Dramatic drop in clamping in Dublin during COVID-19 lockdown

The number of cars clamped by Dublin City Council fell by more than a third in March, Dublin Live can reveal today.

The lockdown saw 34% fewer vehicles clamped last month at 2,681 compared with 4,069 in February and 4,184 in January.

A council spokesman said clampers are being redeployed to police social distancing on roads and footpaths.

He added: “The number of Parking Enforcement agents hasn’t dropped.

“DSPS have made operational adjustments to deploy resources for enforcement other than clamping, ensuring footpaths and areas where queues are forming have sufficient space to allow social distancing.”
