Coronavirus Ireland: Diageo is offering a massive supply of alcohol to help HSE make hand sanitiser

Diageo has pledged to help Ireland fight the deadly coronavirus by supplying alcohol for hand sanitiser production.

The massive distiller behind Guinness is offering enough alcohol to create eight million bottles of hand sanitiser across the world, at no cost.

The multinational company said today it is supplying over 500,000 litres of 96% strength alcohol to the UK and Republic of Ireland to aid our heroic frontline medical workers.

CEO of Diageo Ivan Menezes said: “Healthcare workers are at the forefront of fighting this pandemic and we are determined to do what we can to help protect them.

“This is the quickest and most effective way for us to meet the surging demand for hand sanitiser around the world.”

Distillers across Ireland are offering support in producing hand sanitiser for the HSE, including Irish Distillers who made the pledge last week.

Other companies followed suit, including Listoke Distillery near Drogheda and Clonakilty Distillery in Co Cork.
