A dying dad's heartbreaking final words to his daughter came over voice note just days before he lost his hard battle with coronavirus in a Dublin nursing home.
Chelsea Murrayhill received the message from her 75-year-old father Brian who was a resident at St. Mary's Hospital nursing home in Phoenix Park.
Unbeknown to her, it would be the last time she would hear her irreplaceable father's voice.
In the short 22-second recording, the pensioner told his daughter that he was "not very well today" according to this morning's The Irish Times.
He added: “I’ve been in bed all day long, but I should be alright pet, don’t worry, I love you”.
The message came just days before he sadly died on April 13, becoming one of the 1,571 people to date who have been killed at the hands of the cruel virus as part of the ongoing pandemic.
There were a further 64 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Ireland yesterday bringing the total number in the country to 24,315
Health officials also confirmed that 11 more people sadly lost their lives to COVID-19 last night.
Dr. Ronan Glynn, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health, said: “To date, 87% of confirmed cases diagnosed with COVID-19 have recovered. This is very positive news but should not deflect from the impact this disease has had on individuals and families. In addition, it does not change the risk for any one individual who is diagnosed with the disease today, or in the future.
“Public health advice is there to provide everyone with the best protection possible. Please follow it and continue to protect yourself and each other.”
