Five counties saw a bigger jump in new coronavirus cases than Dublin over the last 24 hours.
The capital has been the epicentre of the outbreak here since the pandemic began, accounting for nearly half of all cases in Ireland.
However there are now signs that the killer bug is starting to spread across the country, as a number of smaller counties saw a bigger spike in new cases in the latest statistics.
Kildare saw the biggest increase in infections, with 15 new Covid-19 cases reported in the most recent data released by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre.
Clare and Laois saw eight new cases each over the last 24 hours, while Offaly saw five more infections.
Dublin meanwhile saw just two further confirmed cases, the same number as Cork.
The latest figures cover the period up to midnight on Sunday, August 2.
It comes after 45 more coronavirus cases were announced in Ireland last night, with no further deaths.
The update from the Department of Health brings the total number of cases here to 26,253.
The death toll now stands at 1,763.
