Coronavirus Ireland county-by-county: Dublin records just one new case as most report zero

Dublin recorded just one new case of coronavirus over the last 24 hours, according to new statistics.

And a whopping 18 counties saw no rise in infections over the same period.

Cavan, Clare, Cork, Donegal, Kerry, Kilkenny, Laois, Leitrim, Limerick, Longford, Mayo, Meath, Sligo, Tipperary, Waterford, Westmeath, Wexford and Wicklow all saw no further cases.

While Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Monaghan, Offaly and Roscommon saw an increase of just one each.

The latest statistics from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) cover the period up to midnight on Sunday, June 7.

They show that the capital reported just one new case, bringing the total number of infections there to 12,159.

However Dublin remains the hardest-hit region in the country, accounting for 48% of all Covid-19 cases here.

It comes after it was confirmed last night that there are just nine new cases of coronavirus confirmed in Ireland.

However tragically there have been a further nine deaths.

There have now been a total 1,691 Covid-19 related deaths here.

Validation of data at the HPSC has resulted in the denotification of one death. The figure of 1,691 deaths reflects this.

The new reported infections bring the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 25,215.

Dr Tony Holohan, Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health, said; “While we report nine new cases and the situation continues to improve in both Ireland and across Europe, the World Health Organisation has noted that now is not the time to ‘take the foot off the pedal’ and that countries need to continue to work hard to avoid complacency and promote solidarity.”
