Cork and Dublin appear to be the counties with the highest likelihood of a big coronavirus outbreak after the latest figures.
HPSC stats released today show between midnight Tuesday and midnight Wednesday Dublin saw 11 new cases.
Cork was next with an added four cases in that time.
Donegal rose by two cases with Carlow, Louth and Waterford rising by one each.
These cases are over a 24-hour period up until midnight Wednesday and are yet to take into account today's 34 new cases and some of Thursday's 24.
The fear of a second coronavirus wave has been heightened with the cases jump with Dr Ronan Glynn urging people to be cautious.
The acting CMO said: "Covid-19 is extremely infectious. It wants to spread, but it needs people to come into contact with each other to do so.
“All of the measures that we have been talking about for many months now are so important; physical distancing, hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette, wearing a face covering where appropriate, avoiding large crowds - are all actions each of us can take to cut the chains of transmission and stop this virus in its tracks.
“It now depends on the actions we take as individuals, as to whether this virus gets an opportunity to spread through our communities. Continue to follow the public health advice, know the risks, know the symptoms and stay safe.”
