Claire Byrne presented her RTE show live from her shed last night admitting she is self isolating due to showing symptoms of a cold similar to those of Covid 19.
The presenter told that she is currently in contact with her doctors who have told her to self isolate and explained that she could have to undertake a test for Coronavirus in the coming days.
Speaking to viewers at the opening of the show, Ms Byrne said: "I am in self-isolation tonight, I am not presenting in studio as I normally would.
"I join you from my home, well from my shed, with a lamp to keep me company.
"So let me just fill you in with what has happened. Over the past few days I have had the symptoms of a cold.
"And according to HSE guidelines, you have to self-isolate when you have the symptoms of a cold.
"So that's what we are doing. I have contacted my GP and my GP has put in train all necessary requests to get me a test for the coronavirus."
The presenter assured viewers she was feeling "quite well" but didn't want to "put my colleagues at risk".
