Coronavirus Ireland cases update today as 299 more confirmed with two further deaths

There have been 299 more cases of coronavirus confirmed in Ireland, with two further deaths.

The latest statement from the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) is in.

As of 2pm today 257 Covid-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 30 are in ICU.

There have been seven additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

Of the cases notified today;

  • 158 are men / 141 are women
  • 67% are under 45 years of age
  • The median age is 34 years old
  • 94 are in Dublin, 41 in Donegal, 27 in Wicklow, 14 in Louth, 13 in Limerick and the remaining 110 cases are spread across 20 other counties.

There have now been 72,241 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Ireland.

There has been a total of 2,052 Covid-19 related deaths in Ireland.

Meanwhile, there have been three further deaths linked to Covid-19 in Northern Ireland and an additional 351 confirmed cases.

The latest figures from the region's Department of Health show there are now 414 patients with coronavirus in hospital, with 34 of those in intensive care units.

There are now 12 ICU beds available in the health service, while overall hospital bed occupancy is at 93%.
