Coronavirus Ireland: Big changes to weddings, Dublin pubs and more expected in new Covid-19 plan

Major changes are expected to weddings, household gatherings and pubs in Dublin as the Government announces a new 'Living with Covid' plan today.

Cabinet is currently meeting to finalise details of the roadmap and is due to sign off on it later today.

The plan will have details of how Ireland will operate for the next eight months or so depending on how prevalent the virus is in the community.

The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) yesterday made their recommendations to Cabinet with Ministers to approve them early on Tuesday.

A briefing will then take place with Taoiseach Micheal Martin and Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly.

The roadmap will feature a five-level plan where each county will be placed in an alert level dependent on the prevalence of Covid-19 there.

Level one features a minimal amount of restrictions, while level five is comparable to the lockdown seen back in April.

Most of the country is expected to be placed at level two today, albeit with some additional restrictions for Dublin.

It has been widely reported that the capital will not see "wet pubs" reopen, and there will be a limit on household visitors.

However up to 100 people will now be allowed to attend weddings in the new plan, up from 50, the Irish Independent reports.

The paper also claims that there will be a new 10-point checklist to determine whether new restrictions need to be put in place.

The key statistic of the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population will be one of the measures, as well as the county's ability to deal with nursing home outbreaks and carry out testing.

In the long term, international travel will be subject to the European Commission's recommendations, but in the short term the Green List is set to be updated.

Minister for Health Simon Donnelly also confirmed that all the new measures will come into effect from midnight tonight.
