Coronavirus Ireland: Are any barbers or hairdressers open across the country?

As soon as shops and pubs began closing across the country it started to dawn on people they may not be able to get a haircut for quite some time.

Barbers and hairdressers are essential but it's clear that social distancing cannot be respected while cutting someone's hair.

As a result the majority of businesses have had to close their doors and may not be able to re-open until this is all over.

Here's all you need to know about the chances of getting a haircut in the next month or two.

Are any barbers or hairdressers open?

While it is advised that all places close there has not been a direct government ruling that all barbers and hairdressers have to close.

You should check with your local spot to see what they are doing during this period.

Although it is warned that social distancing is not possible when getting a haircut.

Federation calling on Government to order closures

The Irish Hairdressers Federation have called on the government to request the closure of all salons.

They have said it is "impossible" for them to carry out their services and want a ban put in place to during the pandemic.

The IHF has 400 members in total with some of these having multiple chains.
