Coronavirus Ireland: 429 new cases and one death announced

Health officials have announced 429 new cases of the coronavirus in Ireland today.

That brings the total number of cases in the country since the pandemic began to 246,633.

There have also been one further death from COVID-19 in the country.

So far, 4,873 people have sadly lost their lives as a result of the disease.

Of the cases notified today:

  • 234 are men / 182 are women
  • 78% are under 45 years of age
  • The median age is 29 years old

174 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 45 are in ICU. 13 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

As of April 23 2021, 1,359,921 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Ireland:

  • 966,611 people have received their first dose
  • 393,310 people have received their second dose
