Coronavirus Ireland: 36 more deaths and 345 new cases of Covid-19 announced

A further 36 people have died as 345 new cases of Covid-19 were announced this evening.

It brings the total number of confirmed cases in the Republic of Ireland to 5,709 and the total number of deaths to 210.

Out of the deaths reported today, 27 were recorded in the east of the country, six in the north and three in the south.

17 of the deceased were women and 19 were men, the median age of the reported deaths was 81.

Out of the 36, 24 of these people had underlying health conditions.

The HSE is now working to identify any contacts newly-diagnosed patients may have had to prevent further spread of the virus.

Meanwhile, three more people have died from Covid-19 in Northern Ireland.

The new deaths bring the total number of deceased there to 73.

The latest figures were released by the Public Health Agency on Tuesday afternoon.

Since Monday, a further 97 positive cases of the virus have also been confirmed taking the total number of cases in the North to 1,255.
