Coronavirus Ireland: 1,372 new COVID-19 cases in Ireland and 7 deaths

A further 1,372 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Ireland by health officials this evening.

Seven more people have sadly died from the illness although this continues the recent trend of a welcome drop in daily deaths.

The death toll from the deadly bug now stands at 2,977 while there have been a total of 188,923 confirmed infections since the start of the pandemic.

While the suppression of the virus continues, hospitals remain under pressure as they treat 1,905 coronavirus patients with 219 currently receiving critical care.
