Covid rates are continuing to rise across Greater Manchester in the run up to Christmas - with some boroughs reporting their highest ever levels since the pandemic began.
Five boroughs have hit new peaks in the number of positive cases recorded since the start of the pandemic.
These are Trafford, Manchester, Bury, Salford and Stockport.
On the whole, the Greater Manchester infection rate in the week ending December 16 is 733.8 per 100,000 people - the highest it has ever been since March 2020.
Its previous peak was six months ago, with a rate of 657.1 cases per 100,000 on July 19.
Trafford is the borough which currently has the highest infection rate out of all ten local authority areas.
Its rate is 1040.9 per 100,000 people - the first time any of the boroughs have surpassed 1,000.
Prior to this, its highest recorded rate was 845.6 on October 9th of this year.
The current rate for Stockport is 827.3, compared to its previous peak of 607.8 on July 19th 2021
Bury now has 864.7 cases per 100,000 - a large increase of its previous highest figure of 610.4 on July 18th.
More notably, Manchester has hit its highest number of infections since October 3 last year with a rate of 877.8 per 100,000.
And Manchester is continuing to see a rise with cases more than doubling at a rate of 110 per cent in the week leading up to December 16.
The borough of Manchester is also seeing the fastest rising rate of infection out of all 10 areas, with 4,878 positive cases recorded just last week.
A total of 20,807 people tested positive for coronavirus across Greater Manchester in the week which ended on December 16.
This is an increase of 8,089 cases compared to the previous week, meaning the rate was up 64 per cent.
Last Wednesday alone, December 15, 4,224 people tested positive on a single day.
Hospital admissions
In the week ending on December 12, a total of 229 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19. That is 26 more than the week before, a rise of 13 per cent.
On Tuesday December 14, there were 35 Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is three fewer than a week earlier.
Deaths
In the week ending December 16, a total of 35 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester.
Cases reported in each of the ten boroughs

Salford
Salford recorded 2203 coronavirus cases, which is 951 more than in the previous seven days.
The latest infection rate in Salford is 838.6 cases per 100,000 people and that is up 76 per cent week-on-week.
Rochdale
Rochdale saw a total of 1322 cases in the week ending December 16, which is 277 more than the previous week. That is a rise of 27 per cent.
In Rochdale, the most recent coronavirus infection rate is now 591.1 cases per 100,000 people.
Bury
In Bury, the latest infection rate is 864.7 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases has gone up by 63 per cent.
A total of 1649 people tested positive for Covid in Bury over the seven days ending on December 16, which is 636 more than the week before.
Trafford
In Trafford, there were 2473 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending December 16, which is 956 more than the previous 7 days.
Trafford has the highest infection rate in the region. The infection rate in Trafford is up slightly compared with the previous day and the week-on-week trend is up by 63 per cent.
Wigan
Wigan is an area where the trend is up. The latest infection rate here is 531.3 cases per 100,000 people.
There were 1757 cases recorded in Wigan, which is 362 more than the previous week - a rise of 26 per cent.
Oldham
In Oldham, the number of cases is up by 48 per cent compared to the previous week - leaving the infection rate at 540.3 cases per 100,000 population.
There were 1284 positive Covid-19 tests in Oldham in the week ending December 16, which was 418 more than the previous 7 days.
Tameside
There was a rise of 42 per cent in cases in Tameside over the week ending December 16, and the infection rate is now 564.0 cases per 100,000 population.
Tameside recorded 1281 positive Covid-19 tests over the seven-day period, and that is 377 more than the previous week.
Stockport
The trend is up in Stockport, where there were 2434 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending December 16, which is 1014 more than the previous 7 days. That is up by 71 per cent compared to the previous week.
The latest infection rate in Stockport is 827.3 cases per 100,000 people, which is higher than the national average.
Manchester
There were 4878 positive tests over the last week in Manchester, which is 2560 more than in the previous week.
The week-on-week trend in Manchester is up by 110 per cent and the latest infection rate is 877.7 cases per 100,000 people.
Bolton
Bolton, which has the lowest infection rate in the region, recorded 1526 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending December 16, which is 538 more than the previous 7 days.
The coronavirus infection rate in Bolton is now 529.4 cases per 100,000 people and is up by 54 per cent week-on-week.
