A video which shows policemen in India performing a hand-washingdance has gone viral.

In footage posted on Facebook by Kerala Police on Tuesday, six police officers wearing face masks can be seen dancing while demonstrating hand-washing techniques.

The awareness video is designed to instruct members of the public on how to wash their hands effectively, in accordance with WHO guidelines.

More than 31,000 people have liked the clip so far.

Elsewhere in India, the Rachakonda Police have started hygiene awareness campaigns aimed at motorists who have stopped at traffic lights.

In a video posted by a social media user on Thursday on Twitter, officers are shown carrying out a step-by-step guide to hand-washing.

The WHO has also started a “safe hands challenge” to encourage people to maintain their personal hygiene amid the coronavirus outbreak.

As part of this initiative, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the WHO’s director-general, talks viewers through the steps needed to wash your hands thoroughly in a video shared on Twitter.

More than 9,000 people have died from the disease as of Thursday, with over 210,000 cases reported in 172 countries. India has had 3 deaths and more than 150 cases.
