Two further coronavirus deaths recorded in Greater Glasgow and Clyde region bringing total to 730

Two new Covid-19 deaths have been recorded in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde region.

Data from Public Health Scotland shows the new recorded deaths as in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde region, with one death recorded on the 22nd of August and further recorded on the 23rd.

The data shows the cumulative count of individuals who died within 28 days of their first laboratory confirmed report of Covid-19 infection.

These are the first deaths registered in Scotland from confirmed Covid-19 cases since July 16th, Nicola Sturgeon said at today's briefing.

According to Public Health Scotland data, one death was recorded in East Dumbartonshire on 22 August.

The data, which was updated today (26 August) shows a further death from Covid-19 was recorded in Glasgow City on 23 August.

At today's briefing, the First Minister announced the number of positive cases of coronavirus in Scotland has risen by 67 in the last 24 hours.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases in Scotland to 19,988.

The total in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde region currently stands at 730.

249 people are currently in hospital with coronavirus, which is six more than yesterday. Two people are in intensive care - one more than yesterday.
