Coronavirus in Scotland: Six more people die and a further 1,009 test positive overnight

Six more people have died and a further 1,009 coronavirus cases have been confirmed across Scotland.

Greater Glasgow and Clyde have recorded an additional 357 cases while Lanarkshire has confirmed another 204.

A further 77 people have been admitted to hospital with coronavirus bringing the total number in hospital to 432 and four additional patients are in ICU. The number of positive coronavirus patients in intensive care now stands at 34.

Scotland's death toll from coronavirus has now reached 2,550.

In the last week, Greater Glasgow has recorded 2,149 new coronavirus cases.

Stricter restrictions are now in place across Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Lanarkshire, Ayrshire and Arran and Forth Valley.

Pubs and restaurants closed their doors at 6pm yesterday for a 16-day lockdown hoped to curb the spread of the virus. Cafés will be allowed to remain open if they're not selling alcohol.

Residents of the five worst affect local areas are asked not to use public transport or travel to other parts of the country but travel restrictions haven't officially been put in place.

Household restrictions remain in place across the country with a ban on visiting other households indoors. Meetings with one other household to the limit of six are allowed outdoors.
