Coronavirus in Scotland: One Covid-19 death amid 344 new positive cases

One person has sadly died after testing positive for coronavirus in the previous 24-hour period.

There were 344 new coronavirus cases recorded in Scotland in the past 24 hours.

The Scottish Government announced one new hospital deaths from positive cases meaning the death toll stands remains at 2,512.

Yesterday it was announced that 714 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded across the country, the largest peak since the pandemic began in March.

The total number of confirmed cases in Scotland now sits at 27,576.

There are currently 105 patients in hospital, with 12 remaining in intensive care.

A ban on indoor visits between households in Scotland was introduced earlier this week as Nicola Sturgeon announced a range of lockdown restrictions.

The First Minister announced the new measures in a bid to stop the spread of coronavirus across Scotland.

Sturgeon also introduced at 10pm curfew for pubs, restaurants and bars, which were enforced on Friday.

Cases across the country have increased over the last two weeks as different parts of the economy open up for the first time since late March when the pandemic hit the UK.
