Coronavirus in Scotland: Number of cases in Glasgow rises by 85 as Scottish total surpasses 2300

The number of positive coronavirus cases in Glasgow has risen by 85 overnight.

In Greater Glasgow and Clyde, a total of 632 cases have been confirmed, up from 547 cases yesterday.

Seventy-six deaths as a consequence of the virus in Scotland have now been recorded.

The latest figures, released by the Scottish Government this afternoon, state that a total of 17,007 tests have been conducted, with 2310 of them diagnosed as positive - an increase of 317 from yesterday.

The news comes after First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said in her daily afternoon briefing that there will be more than 1,000 ventilators in Scotland by the summer.

Ms Sturgeon said ventilators had been ordered by overseas manufacturers after Scottish Conservative leader Jackson Carlaw posed the question in Parliament.
