Coronavirus in Scotland: Number of cases in Glasgow rises by 50 as Scottish total jumps by nearly 300

The number of positive coronavirus cases in Glasgow has risen by 50 overnight.

In Greater Glasgow and Clyde, a total of 682 cases have been confirmed, up from 632 cases yesterday.

126 deaths as a consequence of the virus in Scotland have now been recorded, with 10 more deaths in the past 24 hours and another 40 deaths which have only now been reported.

The latest figures, released by the Scottish Government this afternoon, state that a total of 18,128 tests have been conducted, with 2,602 of them diagnosed as positive - an increase of 292 from yesterday.

The news comes after a Glasgow social enterprise made an urgent plea for funds after it said it would run out of emergency food aid by next week.

Well-Fed Scotland CIC, which provides thousands of meals a week for homeless charities like the Simon Community to distribute to Glasgow's most vulnerable, has found its resources dwindling while trying to continue to meet the growing demand for its help.
