Coronavirus in Scotland: More Scots in hospital with COVID now than in March lockdown

More people in Scotland are currently in hospital with COVID-19 than when the country was plunged into a full lockdown in March.

Cases surged again by 1,009 in Scotland today, with 432 Scots in total now in hospital with the virus, with 34 of these people in intensive care and six new deaths confirmed.

On Wednesday, Nicola Sturgeon brought in tougher restrictions around the country, with all bars and restaurants around the central belt told to shut down for 16 days from Friday 9 October at 6pm.

On March 27, four days after Scotland and the rest of the UK went into full blown lockdown, Travelling Tabby began registering the number of people in hospital with the virus.

404 people were in hospital in total with COVID on March 27, with 62 of these in intensive care.

This means that today (October 10) 2020, Scotland has more Scots in hospital that at the beginning of the March lockdown - with 432 COVID patients currently receiving treatment.
