Coronavirus in Scotland: Man under 25 registered as youngest Covid death

Scotland has sadly registered its youngest coronavirus death today in a man under the age of 25.

On October 17, the young man sadly lost his life due the virus and it is not yet known if he has any underlying health conditions, reports the Daily Record.

It is also not known exactly where the man was from, but it marks the first coronavirus related death in someone aged 24 or younger since the start of the health crisis.

The news comes as 11 Scots sadly lost their lives to the virus in the last 24 hours.

Another 1433 people have tested positive for coronavirus (24 October 2020) and 166 of these were in the NHS Lothian health board area.

Three Scots in total in the age 25-44 category have died in the month of October from the virus.

221 victims between the age of 45-64 have tragically died, while 428 people aged 65 -74 have lost their lives.

Scots in the oldest age categories continue to be the most vulnerable to the bug, with 935 Scots within the 75 -84 age bracket dying, while 1,083 people in the 85 and older age bracket have died.
