Coronavirus in Scotland Live: two more people die as death toll increases to 222

The first Minister has confirmed that a further two people have died from novel coronavirus, taking the Scottish total to 222.

The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 now sits at 3,961 in Scotland - an increase of 255 cases from yeterday.

The number of people who are currently receiving critical care is now 199- an increase of 2.

1599 people in Scotland are currently receiving some from of hospital treatment.

Nicola Sturgeon warned that: "These numbers will of course be an underestimate."

It comes after the news that Dr Catherine Calderwood stepped down from her post after, breaking her own lockdown rules. She is replaced by Dr Gregor Smith.

Nicola Sturgeon also paid tribute to a home care worker in West Dumbartonshire who has died of COVID-19.
