Coronavirus in Scotland latest: 714 new cases recorded in largest single-day jump on record

The Scottish Government has announced that there has been 714 new coronavirus cases in Scotland in the past 24 hours - the highest single-day jump in cases on record.

There were no new hospital deaths from a positive case record with the total number of deaths for Scotland remaining at 2,511.

It comes yesterday after 558 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded across the country as new lockdown restrictions came into play, including a 10pm curfew for hospitality.

The total number of confirmed cases in Scotland now sits at 27,232 since the start of the pandemic in March.

There are currently 99 patients in hospital, with 11 remaining in intensive care.

A ban on indoor visits between households in Scotland was introduced earlier this week as Nicola Sturgeon announced a range of lockdown restrictions.

The First Minister announced the new measures in a bid to stop the spread of coronavirus across Scotland.
