Coronavirus in Scotland latest: 141 new confirmed cases with 14 in Lothian

New cases of coronavirus have soared by 141 in the last 24 hours, including 14 confirmed cases in Lothian.

The latest Scottish Government data shows 141 new cases, representing 1.5 per cent of those who were newly tested.

Two people were in intensive care overnight.

Nicola Sturgeon said on Thursday that she believes the R rate in Scotland could be "as high as 1.4".

No new deaths were reported after one was reported on Thursday, the first in a number of weeks.

251 people were in hospital with confirmed COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

Public health officials are continuing to deal with the increase of cases in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde region, with restrictions in place asking people not to gather indoors.

Those living in Glasgow are no longer allowed to have guests inside their home or vice versa, with anyone supposed to be travelling in or out of the area advised not to do so.
