Coronavirus in Scotland: four new cases of virus as death toll remains at 2488

Four new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Scotland over the last 48 hours.

The latest figures were announced by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon this afternoon.

She also confirmed there had been no new deaths in the past 48 hours.

A technical issue yesterday meant the Scottish Government was not able to publish figures regarding the number of deaths related to the virus on July 4 so figures for July 4 and 5 were given today.

Today it was also announced that the number of people in hospital with confirmed or suspected coronavirus is 646 – a reduction of 20.

And there are eight people in intensive care.

The total number of positive cases is now 18,300.

The latest figures were announced by the Scottish Government today at 2pm during the routine briefing in St Andrew’s House in Edinburgh.

Today, Scots can again attend beer gardens as outdoor pub venues were given the green light to reopen.

However, pubs are not expected to reopen fully until July 15.

The NHS Louisa Jordan in Glasgow also welcomed its first patients after the purpose-built facility was not needed during the worst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Glasgow’s SEC which hosts the hospital will start taking patients to allow other hospitals to resume normal practise.
