Coronavirus in Scotland: Boris Johnson says avoid pubs and theatres and stay at home if you can

People should work from home "where possible" and "avoid going to pubs, clubs and theatres" amid the coronavirus outbreak according to Boris Johnson.

The Prime Minister outlined the new measures during the first of his daily news conferences in relation to the virus.

He also said people with symptoms should stay at home for 14 days with symptoms, rather than seven days.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has reiterated the Prime Minister's advice to avoid pubs, clubs, cinemas and restaurants.

She has also advised the public to work from home "where possible" and avoid unnecessary travel.

Meanwhile Sir Patrick Vallance, Government Chief Scientific Advisor, has advised the general public to avoid gatherings, big or small, reduce social contact and increase social distancing.

While if one person gets the symptom of the virus, the whole household should stay isolated for 14 days.

The news comes as five more people have tested positive for the virus in Glasgow.

A total of 44 positive tests have been confirmed in the Greater Glasgow & Clyde area, up from 39 yesterday.

While the updated figures, released by the Scottish Government this afternoon, confirm that 171 have tested positive for the virus in Scotland - up from 153 yesterday.
