Coronavirus in Scotland: 71 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed overnight

The First Minister has confirmed that 71 new cases of coronavirus have confirmed overnight and no new deaths.

Ten of these new cases are in the Grampian area, 16 are in Greater Glasgow and Clyde and 31 people have tested positive in Tayside.

It comes as a large outbreak of COVID-19 was identified at a 2 sisters food group chicken factory in Coupar Angus.

The factory has more than 900 workers and 59 workers have tested positive and passed the virus on to a further nine people.

The cluster at the factory is currently affecting workers from Peth, Angus and Dundee.

Yesterday the First Minister confirmed 77 new cases and revealed that the R number is now 'likely to be above one'
