Coronavirus in Scotland: 59 more people die from virus as death toll hits 1,762

1, 762 people have now died in Scottish hospitals  after testing positive for coronavirus,  an increase of 59 on Wednesday's figures.

There has been a rise of 215 people testing positive for the killer virus which takes the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 12,924.

The numbers released today during the daily  Scottish Government  press briefing at St Andrew's House also reveal that confirmed or suspected cases in hospital now stand at 1, 587 – a decrease of 45.

There was also a decrease in the number of patients in ICU, which currently stands at 86.

A reduction of three from yesterday.
