Around 50 staff at HMP Low Moss on the outskirts of Glasgow are currently self-isolating after one prison officer tested positive for coronavirus.
According to BBC News Scotland, it is understood that the officer in question recently returned from holiday.
None of the prison officer's colleagues have tested positive for the virus, but are self-isolating as a precaution, while inmates at the prison in Bishopbriggs are isolating in their cells for a week.
It is also reported that visits to prisoners in the affected wing of the jail, which has a capacity for 784 prisoners, have been suspended in the meantime.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Prison Service said: “Contingency plans are in place to deal with situations like this.
“We will be following the actions of this plan which includes self isolation as a precaution and testing is also available.”
