Coronavirus in Scotland: 37 more deaths recorded in past 24 hours as cases rise by 1,128

37 more people have died in Scotland in the past 24 hours after testing positive for coronavirus, Nicola Sturgeon confirmed during today's daily press briefing.

1,128 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported since yesterday across the country, meaning that the total number of people who have tested positive for the virus has risen to 61,531.

Of the new cases in the past 24 hours, 416 were reported in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area, 266 in Lanarkshire, 121 in Ayrshire and 117 in Lothian in the past 24 hours.

1,152 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed Covid-19, an increase of 35 since yesterday, with 86 people in intensive care - an increase of one since yesterday.

The latest figures come as The First Minister reveals the five tier rules for each area of Scotland to Parliament this afternoon.
