Coronavirus in Scotland: 22 deaths in last 24 hours as 777 new cases confirmed

The number of deaths of people with a confirmed case of coronavirus has risen by 22, bringing Scotland's death toll to 3,911.

The Scottish Government figures also confirm that 777 positive tests were recorded overnight - 4% of all tests carried out - bringing the total number of cases to 99,463.

210 of these occurred in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, with 117 in Lanarkshire.

There are currently 59 people in hospital, with five in intensive care receiving treatment for Covid-19.

Next Friday the tough restrictions imposed on Glasgow and other local authorities are due to end.

However, while First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has said it is "likely" that major changes will be made at the next review on Tuesday, it does not mean that all areas will return back to 'normal'.

Ms Sturgeon has said level four measures would hopefully progress the city down to level two restrictions, however there is no promise that we will be put into level two immediately, with some councils across the country are still facing tougher restrictions unless Covid-19 rates fall.
