Coronavirus in Scotland: 203 new cases reported as 'hard and necessary' restrictions on the way

In the last 24 hours, Scotland has reported a further 203 cases of coronavirus as the country continues to see a rise in cases.

he new figures represent a total of 4.4 per cent of those tested across the country on Thursday.

Nicola Sturgeon confirmed the numbers at Friday's daily briefing, at which she also confirmed 30 of the cases were recorded in the Lothians.

The Scottish Government have stated that this weekend will be "critical", with some "hard and necessary" conditions to arrive over the coming days.

Today the First Minister also confirmed that Slovenia and Guadelupe have now been added to the quarantine list for travel with Singapore and Thailand now removed.

69 of the cases were in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, with another 29 in Lanarkshire.

The First Minister also reported a small rise in hospital admissions, with 61 patients currently being treated for the virus.

Out of that number, five are in intensive care units around the country.

Today one new death was also reported, taking the national total to 2502.
