Coronavirus in Scotland: 141 new confirmed cases, 68 of which reported in Greater Glasgow area

141 people in Scotland have tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 21,189.

This includes 68 cases in the NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde area and 20 cases in Lanarkshire, with the total number of cases in the Glasgow area now numbering 5,777.

No new deaths of people who have tested positive were reported in the last 24 hours.

Two people were in intensive care with confirmed Covid-19, with 251 people in hospitals across Scotland with confirmed cases of the virus.

Of these 251, 152 were in Glasgow (the same as Friday's figures) and eight were in Lanarkshire (also as per Friday's figures).

The latest figures comes amid a warning that lockdown measures could be reintroduced in Lanarkshire because of rising infection rates in the region.

NHS Lanarkshire's director of public heath Gabe Docherty said yesterday that the figures "should be a wake-up call".
