Coronavirus in Scotland: 1,118 cases reported overnight with 36 deaths

Scotland has reported a further 1,118 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours.

The latest daily figures were updated this afternoon, which showed that 5.8 per cent of those tested for the virus returned a positive result.

This now takes the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 80,135.

Out of the 1,118 new cases, 120 were in the Lothians, with a further 400 in Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

218 were also reported in Lanarkshire, as well as 82 in Fife.

Currently, most of the central belt is under level three restrictions, alongside Fife, Perth and Kinross and Angus.

Hospital figures also showed a decrease from Friday, with 1,198 patients currently being treated for Covid-19 across the country.

92 patients are also in intensive care units, a decrease of four from yesterday.

Sadly, 36 further deaths were also registered.
