Coronavirus in Glasgow - five new cases as total in Scotland rises to 171

The number of coronavirus cases in Glasgow continues to rise as five more people have tested positive for the virus.

A total of 44 positive tests have been confirmed in the Greater Glasgow & Clyde area, up from 39 yesterday.

While the updated figures, released by the Scottish Government minutes ago, confirm that 171 have tested positive for the virus in Scotland - up from 153 yesterday.

A total of 4,895 Scottish tests have been carried out, up from 4,240 from yesterday.

The news comes after Glasgow Clyde College confirmed that a student at Langside campus had tested positive for COVID-19 and is now self-isolating at home.

While six residents at a care home in Uddingston were also confirmed to have tested positive for the virus.
