Supermarkets across the country have been put under immense strain as more and more people panic purchase amid the current coronavirus pandemic.
Tesco have confirmed that they have limited a number of items to two per customer after panic buying has reduced stock and staff are unable to keep with replenishing shelves due to the excessive demand.
As a result, supermarkets across Edinburgh and the Lothians are urgently appealing for people to apply for temporary jobs with them.
Sainsbury's told Edinburgh Live: "As you can appreciate there are a lot of people potentially without jobs due to the current COVID19 situation and we want to expand our teams with immediate effect to help the food retail industry recover."

Tesco
Staff from local Tesco stores have been in community groups on Facebook urging others to apply for new temporary roles with the company - the careers portal has been crashing due to the high volume of applications received.
It can be understood the supermarket giant is looking for store and distribution colleagues, driver colleagues and warehouse colleagues in order to tackle the monumental strain shops are under at the moment.

Sainsbury's
Sainsbury's across Edinburgh are currently recruiting a large volume of roles, predominately within their online operations (online pickers and drivers) as well as nightshirt replenishment colleagues.
