Coronavirus in Edinburgh: Bin collections disrupted due to staff in isolation

The council have warned residents that due to coronavirus some bin collections will be disrupted today.

Edinburgh Council have said that staff shortages are responsible for the disruption - reporting that recycling and rubbish collections will be delayed as a result.

In a message on the coronavirus section on their website the council said the disruption would occur at 3.30pm today.

They added: "We’re experiencing disruption to some of our bin collections today due to staff shortages, but we’re working hard to ensure collections continue. Thank you for your patience at this time."

There are currently delays to the following kerbside collections in the Edinburgh area:

  • Black/grey non-recyclable waste bins - Loganlea and Piershill
  • Blue box glass recyclable - Currie, Dalmahoy Road, Blinkbonny, Lanark Road West, Pilton, Muirhouse, Silverknowes, Lochend, Leith Links, Fort and Pilrig

They asked residents to still leave your bin and/or box at kerbside for collection.

Residents were also asked to help avoid bin delays by not parking in front of bins, not blocking off streets so trucks can't get down and putting out bins where they can be easily seen.
