Coronavirus: Idris Elba shares update on symptoms after fake video claims he's in critical condition

Idris Elba has been forced to deny he is in critical condition after a fake report suggested his health had worsened.

The actor recently tested positive for coronavirus and has been self-isolating at home, despite showing no symptoms.

However, the 47-year-old was compelled to share an update after a fake video report claimed he was now seriously ill.

A fan shared screenshots of the clip in question, telling him: “Someone posted a YouTube video of you saying you are in critical condition for the Covid-19 virus.”

“This is fake. I’m fine for now. Thanks for showing me,” Elba responded.

He told another follower: “I really didn’t have poorly days... I had a headache and body aches on the day I tested but that’s been it.”

Earlier this week, Elba shared a video to fans that revealed his diagnosis.

“This morning I tested positive for Covid-19,” he said. “I feel okay, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus.

“Stay home people and be pragmatic. I will keep you updated on how I’m doing. No panic.”

He continued: “I got some test results back and it came back positive, and it sucks. ‘I didn’t have any symptoms.  ‘I got tested because I realised I was exposed to someone who had also tested positive. I found out last Friday that they were tested positive. I quarantined myself and got a test immediately and got the results back today.

“Beyond that there are people out there who aren’t showing symptoms and that can easily spread it. So now is a real time to be really vigilant about washing your hands and keeping your distance, okay.”

A number of celebrities and public figures have shared their positive diagnoses to encourage fans to get tested and to self-isolate to avoid spreading coronavirus.
