The number of Covid patients being cared for in Bristol's hospitals has risen by 45 per cent in just ten days.
Today (Thursday, October 28), there are more than double the number of people in hospital than on this date last year, which was when Tier 1+ was implemented in Bristol.
Health and city leaders issued a statement today warning that Bristol faces a “very challenging winter” due to rapidly rising cases across the city.

Ten days ago, there were 82 people in hospital in the Bristol area with Covid.
Today, that number stands at 119, with sixteen patients on ventilators.
In the Bristol region in the last 24 hours, there have been 1,033 further cases confirmed, according to government data.
Additionally, two deaths were reported in Bristol and one death each was recorded in Bath and North East Somerset, and South Gloucestershire.
Compared to the South West as a whole, Bristol recorded the highest number of new Covid cases, with 336 confirmed since yesterday.
Nationally, the government says that 165 people who had tested positive for Covid within 28 days have died in the last 24 hours.
Bristol health and city leaders urgently appealed to residents to begin wearing masks again in public places and to take further Covid precautions as a result of the rapidly increasing case numbers.
