Coronavirus: Hibs manager Jack Ross admits they are in 'state of limbo'

Jack Ross has explained the "state of limbo" Hibs find themselves in amid the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

The Easter Road boss says it's important to retain a sense of perspective as discussion and debate is had about whether football fixtures should be taking place at all.

The SPFL and SFA confirmed on Thursday that the full weekend card would be going ahead as planned, however with all large gatherings cancelled from Monday it's unclear for how long football matches will continue.

The Hibs manager spoke about the situation ahead of this weekend's match with St Johnstone, and he said: “Initially, I think there is that selfish thought of ' we are trying to do well in the league, where in a Scottish Cup semi-final, and we want to play the games' but as time goes on I've certainly become a lot more balanced.

“This is bigger than us. I've got a wife, daughters and I can accept that the football side of things is secondary.

“When you don't understand the severity of it, then you think I don't want this to disrupt the football.

“However, if all those big games get thrown in the bin in order to make sure we'll come out of this okay, then so be it.”

Ross admitted that despite everything they are trying to be professional about this weekend's fixture.

He said: “Everybody is in that state of limbo. We've prepared as normal and as consistent as it's always been.

“We understand the importance of the game. It sounds daft saying that when I've just said it's not that important but we've got to continue to look at it that way.

“It could be that after Saturday the dynamics change in terms of the league or the games that follow.

“But for the moment we've got to try and be professional about what we do at the weekend and try and win the game."
