Coronavirus: Hearts and Hibs matches suspended as SFA and SPFL call off all fixtures

Hearts and Hibs matches have been suspended as the SFA and SPFL call off all Scottish football fixtures amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Hampden bosses took the decision this morning (Friday) despite earlier insisting that matches would take place as planned.

This means that Hearts' trip to Livingston and Hibs' home match with St Johnstone won't be going ahead as planned this weekend.

The SFA and SPFL joint response group issued a statement saying that all matches would be suspended until further notice.

The statement read: "The Joint Response Group can confirm the decision of the Scottish FA Board to suspend all domestic professional and grassroots football under the jurisdiction of the Scottish FA until further notice.

"As a result, the SPFL has announced the postponement of this weekend's and the following midweek's fixtures, starting with tonight's Premiership match between Motherwell and Aberdeen and the Championship match between Queen of the South and Ayr United."

The English Premier League was also suspended until April 3 at the earliest.
