Coronavirus: Greggs is giving free hot drinks to NHS staff

Greggs is one of the latest food chains to offer emergency service staff free drinks during the coronavirus outbreak.

The popular high-street bakery recently announced that it will be giving drinks to NHS staff and social care workers to say thank you for their hard work amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

To collect a drink on the house, all you need to do is show your NHS work pass in any Greggs store.

The bakery chain said: "Greggs has a long-standing history of supporting the communities that we serve, and we'll continue to help the Greggs Foundation donate unsold food to good causes and deliver the programmes that support those in need.

"In addition, we'll be offering all emergency service personnel and health and social care workers free hot drinks on presentation of their work pass – they are doing an amazing job, and this is the least we can do to support them."

Greggs added: "We'll continue to monitor the situation closely, reviewing developments and the latest advice, and inform you of any additional steps we need to take.

"We'll keep as many of our shops open for as long as possible, but you may see a change in our opening hours and range as we respond to this ever-changing landscape."

But Greggs isn't the only food distributor saying thank you to NHS frontline workers.

Pret, Starbucks, Leon and Domino's are also giving the NHS discounts on lunches and hot drinks to show their appreciation.

Here's a roundup of all the freebies available for emergency service staff.
