Coronavirus Glasgow: weekly cases remain 'very high' amid warning of level 4 lockdown

Fresh figures shows the number of weekly cases of coronavirus remains 'very high' in Glasgow.

Data shared by MSP for Maryhill and Springburn Bob Doris highlights the number of cases per 100,000 of population from October 28 - November 6 appears to have plateaued around the 300 mark.

The weekly cases per 100,000 has been close to that 300 figure since the first week in October.

Meanwhile test positivity also remains 'very high', between 11.4% and 12.6% across the same timeframe.

Sharing the statistics on Twitter, the SNP MSP said the virus remains 'stubbornly high' in Glasgow, as he urged Glaswegians to drive down levels of the virus: "There remains much to do to suppress Covid-19 in Glasgow.

"Whilst the situation has stabilised, the data shows that Covid-19 levels remains stubbornly high.

"Let’s drive down Covid levels together by all sticking to the rules. No-one wants to end up in level 4."

Yesterday, Nicola Sturgeon announced Glasgow will remain in level 3 lockdown, however said she 'cannot rule out' a move to level 4 in the near future.
