Gary Lightbody has taken to social media to share that he’ll be hosting an acoustic gig this Thursday - live on Instagram.
It comes as thousands of people across Northern Ireland are self-isolating, as a precautionary measure to stop the spread of Coronavirus.
In a statement on Instagram, Gary said: “Hi everyone. Acoustic gig live on the @snowpatrol Instagram this Thursday the 19th at 7pm GMT.
“Please put any requests below and I’ll start with the most requested songs and then in future live shows (there will be more) I’ll get through as many of the others as I can."
He added: “Sorry if any of you are following me AND snow patrol as you’ll be getting two of these posts but I just wanted to get the word out about the gig.
“If you miss it live it will be up on insta afterwards too of course.
“Loads of love. See you Thursday I hope. gL.x”
Dozens of musicians across Ireland have already taken up the idea of live streaming gigs from their own homes, as shows have been cancelled and venues forced to shut in the last few days.
Derry-based artist ROE, who previously toured with Snow Patrol, has announced ‘Roe: Live From Home’ on her Instagram page, @roemusic.
Meanwhile Belfast musician Peter McVeigh has said that live streaming his gigs and asking for donations has proved to be a good way of coping with the loss of income, as well as brightening up the grind of self-isolation.
“I made more [money, from streaming] than I would have gigging and it takes the pressure off until the end of the month for bills. I’ll be doing one weekly until things get back to normal.
"Money or not it took me out of the whole thing and made things more normal.”
