Princes Street is certainly looking very different to how it did a few weeks ago.
Everyone from McDonald's to Next, Primark and John Lewis have said they're closing stores as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
The latest news this afternoon is that popular high street bakery Greggs and fast food restaurant KFC have both made the decision to close their stores across the UK from the end of business tomorrow (Tuesday 23 March), saying that operating a takeaway service was not enough to maintain social distancing.
Shops were not told to close alongside pubs and cinemas by Prime Minister Boris Johnson last week, while restaurants and cafés were told they could stay open for takeaways and food delivery.
However that hasn't stopped chain after chain after chain making the decision on its own in an effort to keep staff and shoppers safe during the coronavirus outbreak.
All 1,3000 McDonald's will close from 7pm tonight, while Subway shut all of its branches at 5pm today.
Pret, Starbucks and Costa have also said they will shut shops. Major restaurant chains including Nando's, Pizza Express and Zizzi have also closed.
Fashion and other retailers have also been closing as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.
On Sunday Primark confirmed that it was closing all 189 of its UK stores, affecting around 37,000 jobs - though employees would be paid in full for the next 14 days, the company said.
Other clothing chains including Kurt Geiger, Topshop and New Look have announced mass store closures.
