Coronavirus: Fourth person dies of Covid-19 in Republic of Ireland

A fourth death related to Coronavirus has been confirmed in the Republic of Ireland.

The Department of Health also confirmed 121 new positive cases in the country.

Meanwhile the total number of people hospitalised for the virus has risen from 151 to 177.

On Sunday, a patient who tested positive for Covid-19 has died in a hospital in Northern Ireland.

It brings the total number of deaths across the island to six.

The Department of Health also confirmed that there were 20 new positive cases of Coronavirus in Northern Ireland.

Health Minister Robin Swann said: “My deepest condolences go to the friends and family of this patient. This heart-breaking news should bring it home to every one of us that coronavirus is a real and present danger across our community."

First Minister Arlene Foster has warned social distancing may have to be enforced in Northern Ireland.

The DUP leader told the BBC's Sunday Politics show: "There will be legislation which will allow us to enforce social distancing and enforce all of these matters and of course one does not want to have to go down that road, but really it appears that in some cases we are going to have to enforce it."
