Coronavirus: Four more positive tests in Ayrshire and Arran as Scots death toll hits 10

Another four people have tested positive for coronavirus in Ayrshire and Arran during the last 24 hours.

It comes as the number of fatalities from the disease in Scotland rose to ten overnight.

A total of 416 people have now tested positive in Scotland - a daily rise of 43.

The latest figure comes after the government shut down pubs, cafes, restaurants and leisure centres across the UK in a bid to tackle Covid-19.

Schools were also closed by the Scottish Government on Friday to minimise the spread of the deadly bug.

So far 8679 tests have been conducted in Scotland with 8263 of them coming back as negative.

The breakdown is as follows: Ayrshire and Arran, 25, Borders, 11, Dumfries and Galloway, 16, Fife, 16, Forth Valley, 30, Grampian, 23, Greater Glasgow and Clyde, 130, Highland, 8, Lanarkshire, 49, Lothian,46, Shetland, 24 and Tayside 38.
