Coronavirus: Former Hollyoaks star Terri Dwyer suffering from 'horrendous' cough

Former Hollyoaks star Terri Dwyer has discussed her struggle with coronavirus symptoms.

The 46-year-old actress has previously spoken about her successful fight against skin cancer.

Now Terri has taken to social media to disclose details of her experience with symptoms of COVID-19, the novel virus that is sweeping the world in a global pandemic.

Terri tweeted: "Thank you all for your well wishes. You are all keeping me sane in very difficult times.

"Day 5 with #covid19UK symptoms- it's brutal, I'm not gonna lie. The cough is horrendous!"

The actress, who played Ruth Osborne in the British soap, went on to explain that her family hasn't been affected in the same way that she has.

"But my family are still good, so don't panic - we all react differently," she wrote. "Stay strong you lovely lot."

Terri has been keeping her followers updated since she first came down with symptoms.

She shared on Twitter on Tuesday: "#cough #achesandpains #possiblevirus #covid19UK It’s gonna be difficult to truly know if I have the virus or not since test are only for those hospitalised."

She added: "I’m grateful not to be as bad as some, gutted my whole family have to #selfisolate for #14days because of me."

The 60 Minute Makeover presenter also discussed her symptoms as they progressed, writing: "Started with a sore throat and flu like aches and pains.

"The dry, hacking cough has got progressively worse. I know some people have the fever too so many more worse than me."

Previously in a no-holds-barred discussion with Lorraine in 2016, Terri discussed her emotions when going through treatment for stage two skin cancer.

She explained: "I always thought I would be much tougher, but I defy anyone who is a mother to not be a nervous wreck."
