Coronavirus forces cancellation of the 2020 BVAC Classic Festival of Motoring

THE Borders Vintage Automobile Club has decided to cancel this year's BVAC Classic Festival of Motoring because of the coronavirus crisis.

The annual spectacle that draws thousands of enthusiasts was due to take place at Thirlestane Castle, near Lauder, on Sunday, June 7, with a "Best of the 70s" theme.

But the club said it was with regret that it had taken the decision to postpone the event until 2021 – with the date of June 6 pencilled in the diary at the spectacular country house venue.

A BVAC spokesman said: "The current and developing coronavirus situation means that it would not be viable to continue to organise and run the event at this time.

"The team would like to thank the many clubs and entrants who have already pledged their support for the 2021 event, as well as their lead sponsor Brewin Dolphin for their ongoing support."
